This is a simple step-by-step recipe for a traditional ‘Apple Crumble’. Perfect for any occasion and sharing with friends or family. Moreover it can be a remedy for the depressing temperature of the last few days. The process of making a cake can be very fun, it’s a great way to share a special moment with people who are important to you and I’m sure you’ll all appreciate something much more when you know you’ve made it with love.
Preparation: 15 minutes
Baking Time: 30 minutes
3 Teaspoons Cinnamon
90g Brown Sugar
3 Teaspoons Vanilla Sugar (optional)
Pre-heat your oven at 210°C (Gas 7)
Peel and dice the apples.
Then sprinkle the diced apples with the Caster Sugar, Cinnamon and vanilla sugar (if you have some).
Mix the brown sugar, flour and butter together in a bowl. You will need to use your hands, so don’t be afraid to get a little messy. It might take 10 or so minutes to obtain the right consistency, you just have to rub the dough between your hands, as though you were trying to warm up your cold hands. Eventually you will see tiny balls forming.
It should look similar to the results in the pictures, don’t if it doesn’t though it shouldn’t affect the final result too much, it’s only butter, sugar and flour.
Butter the dish you are going to use, also dust it with flour, this will stop the crumble from sticking to the bowl, as well as make it easier to wash the dish afterwards. Then simply lay down the diced apples in the bowl.
Lay down the dough on top of the apples.
Bake the crumble in the oven for 30 large minutes. You will know it’s ready once the top of the crumble starts browning. Once its ready you can sprinkle some icing sugar over the top of your crumble to add the finishing touch!
It’s now time to enjoy your delicious apple crumble. You could use other fruit as an alternative to apple, blackberries for example, are very good in crumbles!
You can serve your apple crumble with some whipping cream. You can buy it or you can make it yourself, it’s very easy however you’ll need an electric whisk. You can’t make it with a basic whisk, well unless you’re Dwayne Johnson!
175ml Single Cream
3 Teaspoons Vanilla Sugar (you can use caster sugar instead)
there’s nothing easier. In a bowl mix the single cream with the sugar (vanilla or caster sugar) and whisk it until you obtain a thick consistency. It might take 10-15 minutes to achieve this result. As you can see on the picture the texture of my whipping cream is not ideal but still it was very tasty! So if it doesn’t quite thicken, don’t worry too much as it’s the taste that’s the most important part!
Now all that’s left to do is to enjoy your delicious Apple Crumble!
