Undoubtedly the best thing on the iPhone/iPod Touch out there right now (for UK users) is TVCatchup! You can get all your standard freeview channels right on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

To use the service, simply sign up on their website for an account and open this link in your Safari browser on the iPhone: http://iphone.tvcatchup.com/.

Admittedly, it works much better on wi-fi, although I tried it on Edge/3G and it still worked, with a few jitters here and there.

It is like iPlayer, but with all the standard freeview channels showing live! It all seems a bit too good to be true so I dig some digging around on Wikipedia to find out more about it.

According to copyright experts, Hamlins LLP and Robert Engleheart QC of Blackstone Chambers, the website is not unlawful. Service providers are yet to also find any legal cause to shut down the website.

So sign up, and enjoy! I can already see how this will be useful in getting you through those extremely boring lectures.
